Option Configuration Incorrect Component Installed
Circuit/System Description
The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and option content is programmed into
the electronic brake control
module during initial programming of the module.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Ignition ON
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The electronic brake control module is not properly programmed or configured.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
- The ABS indicator turns ON.
- The electronic brake control module disables the ABS for the duration of
the ignition cycle.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
- A current DTC clears when the diagnostic runs and passes.
- The electronic brake control module will turn OFF the indicators and
enable the system functions in the
next ignition cycle.
Diagnostic Aids
A newly replaced electronic brake control module can set one or more DTCs on
its initial ignition ON cycle.

Circuit/System Testing
- Verify that DTC C0551 is not set.
If the DTC is set
Reprogram the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module.
If the DTC is not set
- Verify the DTC does not set while operating the vehicle within the
Conditions for Running the DTC.
If the DTC sets
Replace the K17 Electronic Brake Control Module.
If the DTC does not set
- All OK.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the repair.
